Get Tested

Tested?SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED INFECTIONS (STIs)

Our Drop-In Clinic provides free and confidential testing for STIs.

PREVENT IT:

Use Condoms. Stop by our clinic to pick up free condoms and lube. Bags are available on the desk in the clinic. You do not need to check in with the nurse first, just stop by and grab a bag. Please let us know if you have any special needs (latex allergy, colour, flavor, size, etc).

Use a Dental Dam. Dental dams prevent the spread of infections like genital herpes. If your partner has a cold sore (a herpes infection on their lips), they could spread herpes through sexual contact (oral sex, kissing). We carry coloured, flavoured and plain dental dams.

Get Vaccinated. The Gardasil Vaccine protects you against the most common types of HPV that cause cervical cancer and genital warts. 8 out of 10 people will get at least one type of HPV in their lifetime. Protect yourself by getting vaccinated. Call to speak to a nurse in our clinic to learn more.

CATCH IT EARLY:

If you have casual partners, we recommend testing at least four (4) times per year. Catch it early and get treated early so that you can stay healthy. Respect yourself and others by getting tested.

Let your partner know about your status. Talking about your status with your partner contributes to a healthy relationship. It is possible to have a healthy, strong and vibrant relationship if you have or have had a STI. Speak to a nurse today if you want ideas about getting the conversation started.

TESTING IS EASY:

Urine Testing is done at your request to screen for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea.

Blood Testing is done at your request to screen for HIV (types 1 and 2), Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and Syphilis.

**We do NOT do blood testing for Herpes (HSV) or Human Papillomavirus (HPV or genital warts). If you have noticed changes or have symptoms such as blisters, bumps/warts or have a rash, please call us to book an appointment to see the doctor.

FOR A GENERAL STI CHECK UP:

  • You do not need an appointment
  • We do not need to see your health card
  • Testing can be done in your name or anonymously
  • We provide free treatment for most infections
  • Results are back within 7-10 business days
  • If you have symptoms, please contact us for an appointment to see the doctor
  • With your consent, we provide referrals for care of Hepatitis C and HIV
